We installed sucessfully with:

- openvistaserver-1.5.sp2

- ovid-0.9.0.tgz

- No KIDS necessary with sp2

- GT.M

- Had to get listener via direct link since read me link does not work.

I have so far been unsuccessful with:

-ovid-dev-src-0.9.2.zip (and 0.9.1)

-ubuntu 9.04 (and 9.10)

-fis-gtm-5.3004a_5.3004a-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

-openvistaserver-1.5.sp2-gtm.zip (and astronaut)

-openvista-libs-5.3004a_0.8.6-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

-openvista-utils_0.8.6-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

CIS works on port 9201 (and TMG-CPRS, too... I did not expect that to work.)

lke reports ^XOB(18.01,"VistALink Listener","OPEN","OPEN","OPEN:jlz-lenovo-x60t",8002)

I am apparently messing up my java compile somehow. And I generate this recurring error:

Hmmm.. that's a odd message JohnLeo. Please try this:

Either by checking out the 0.9.2 sources from lp:ovid or from the ovid-dev-src-0.9.2.zip, build the project by typing: ant
cd to the ovid-domain directory
type: get-patients.sh again and take all the defaults. We've hardcoded the main values to always go to openvista.medsphere.org.

This will tell us if you are having a general environment issue or not. Please post your results back to medsphere.org and we'll help get you up and running.

This bit of fluff has me crabby.

Please try this:

Either by checking out the 0.9.2 sources from lp:ovid or
- from the ovid-dev-src-0.9.2.zip
  - done
- build the project by typing: ant
  - here something is screwy.

The instructions say enter "ant" without detailing just where I am supposed to be when invoking that command. .../ovid-dev-0.9.2 has no build.xml file so nothing happens there.

.../ovid-dev-0.9.2/ovid/INSTALL instructs me to run ant and then move lib/ovid.jar to contrib/medsphere/ovid.jar. So I do that.

And in /ovid-dev-0.9.2/ovid-domain/INSTALL talks of a similar step:

"type: ant from the top-level.

You should end up with a dist/ovid.jar.

Copy it to the ./contrib/medsphere directory."

But there is no dist/ovid.jar, just a lib/ovid-domain.jar. So I put both that and the ovid.jar into ./contrib/medsphere/

By now I know something is missing... a build.xml file somewhere? a missing component of ant?

You have a right to be crabby. Our docs and zip needed updating due to improvements in OVID. I've done that here: https://medsphere.org/docs/DOC-1719 and marked this document as referring to an older release of OVID. I recommend that you switch to the new document and let me know if something doesn't work. I went through each step, so I am hopeful that it will work fine. Sorry for the trouble.

Note that you'll want to download a new ovid--dev-0.9.2.zip, or update your branch from lp:ovid -- whichever method you are using to get the source. I updated the get-patients scripts and added the build file.

Is there a way to run OVID on a Windows Server. We have two servers (one Windows/Cache and the other Linux(CentOS 5)/Gtm/Cache) that we are setting up for testing purposes and would like to be able to run the same tests against both.

Absolutely. Ovid can run anywhere that java can run, which includes windows.
