OpenVista contains an HL7 module for creating, running and monitoring in and out bound interface messages.  These can be used to create point-to-point interface connections. Medsphere recommends the use of an interface engine in any environment that is utilizing HL7 messages in order to control and transform the interfaces.

As a part of Medsphere's standard implementation methodology, we use the Mirth Connect interface engine to provide an additional layer of flexibility.
