OpenVista CIS

OpenVista Clinical Information System (CIS) is a cross platform frontend for OpenVista Server based on C# and Gtk# / GTK. CIS runs on the MS and Mono .NET frameworks. It is based on the design of the VA's Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) along with image viewing, and other commercial enhancements.

Download OpenVista CIS if you want to connect to our Public Demo Server or an instance of OpenVista Server at your site.

OpenVista Appliance

Due to the various technologies and skill sets required to install, configure and run the OpenVista Server and OpenVista CIS, it made good sense to prepare a virtualized system allowing healthcare experts and developers alike to easily download and run a completely configured OpenVista system.

At this time, the OpenVista Appliance is available as a VMWare Virtual Machine. This requires you download and install the VMWare Player. Additionally, to initially decompress the virtual machine, 7zip is required.

Download the OpenVista Appliance if you want to evaluate OpenVista without having to install it yourself.

OpenVista Server

OpenVista Server is an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Health Information System (HIS) derived from the VA Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) VistA server release and includes defect corrections and a selection of commercial enhancements equivalent to what has been released at Medsphere client sites.

The OpenVista Server distribution is released as a snapshot of a running system for new installations and as a series of KIDS builds so existing users can patch up from a previous release.

Download OpenVista Server if you're planning to use OpenVista in a production environment.

OpenVista/GT.M Integration Project

OpenVista Server, GT.M, and Linux make up an all-open-source software stack. This project aims to simplify installation, configuration, and operation of OpenVista on GT.M and Linux by providing OpenVista enhancements, management utilities, and native Linux packages.

Download the packages from this project if you're installing OpenVista Server on Linux.

OpenVista Interface Domain

The OpenVista Interface Domain (OVID) layer is a set of development tools designed to enable software developers easier access to OpenVista data. Currently, we've implemented a set of java domain classes that demonstrate how this can be accomplished.

  • If you've ever wanted to call an OpenVista RPC from java, then this tool would be of interest to you.
  • If you've ever wanted to construct a fileman call in java because you can't find a suitable, existing RPC, then OVID would be of interest to you.

OVID is basically an RPC resource messaging interface with java bindings. OVID can execute an RPC and get the results. It is up to the developer to construct the call and glean the results into a usable format. Further, OVID contains mumps routines and a specialized RPC that can invoke Fileman on behalf of the caller. RPC and Fileman "modes" can be easily intermixed.

Download OVID if you're developing applications for OpenVista.
