HIMSS: Day 3

Posted by Ben Mehling Apr 8, 2009

A lot traffic on Tuesday -- the booth was buzzing with activity and conversations up and past the official closing time of the conference.  Yesterday we hosted a presentation (by Dr. Billings) and a number of demos (by Nigel, Rob P and Kris).  No matter who we talked with (or saw our bus), I heard a lot of comments about how compelling our story is and how disruptive our model will be to the industry.

HIMSS: Day 2

Posted by Ben Mehling Apr 6, 2009

Day two proved to be busy for the Medspherians manning the booth.  A lot more activity than last year and the larger space is making a difference.  Scheduled demos today, plus presentations by John Danahy and David Whiles of Midland Memorial.  The day closed with a small cocktail hour for select invitees to discuss the system, implementation and services with current customers like David Whiles and Steve Art.  Mike forged ahead with his documentary film project.

Main entrance to the convention center (I should mention that it was snowing last night):

Edmund Billings, Jeanne McNerney and Neil Cowles (of Tolven) discuss OpenVista and Tolven in the context of HIE networks:

A decent crowd attended a CCHIT open discussion on how open source projects can participate in the process. The CCHIT organization did a good job putting together the discussion and agreed to do more to make the CCHIT process more open source friendly.

HIMSS: Day 1

Posted by Ben Mehling Apr 5, 2009

Sunday is a short day on the conference floor with only 4 hours open to attendees.  In the morning an elite team of union drivers were out and about in Chicago maneuvering the bus into position for a photo shoot, while the booth team was making last minute preparations and rehearsing the days events.  Despite the limited time, Mike presented twice on Medsphere's value proposition, while Kris and Nigel tag-teamed on the demo.  Tomorrow will be a busy day for the entire team.

The Medsphere bus photo shoot -- "magic hour":

Dr. Billings spies the "GE Bus"...  It took several Medspherians to restrain him.

HIMSS: Day 0

Posted by Ben Mehling Apr 4, 2009

Saturday was all about final touches.  The Medspherian team -- from Dev and QA to Marketing and Sales (and everyone in between) had been involved in the run up to HIMSS. Today was spent running wires, preparing "collateral", testing the local demo servers, moving furniture, doing our best to make everything go smoothly -- and finally adding a bit of polish where we could.

Perhaps we're not as scrappy as San Diego '03, but by no means did we arrive on the luxury yachts some of the others will sail in on.  Sunday afternoon the floor opens to attendees and every Medspherian here will be ready to show them what open source could mean to their organization, and more importantly, their patients.

Chicago -- chilly, friendly and scenic.

... and yes, the bus quietly waits its turn in an undisclosed location -- surfs up!
