Difference between OpenVista and VistA

Hi,

I would like to know the differences between OpenVista(OV) and VistA, apart from OVID technology which is used for developing UI in OV.

Is there any change in Data Model in above two, or OV use the same Datamodel as VistA.

Regards,

Huz

Great question that we haven't really covered before.  Please take a look at this new FAQ on the topic.

I hope that this helps to answer your question.

The underlying data model is the same, except where it has been enhanced in OpenVista.  Both OpenVista and VistA use FileMan and have mostly the same files.

Re: Difference between OpenVista and VistA

Doctors typically use CPRS (VistA) or CIS (OpenVista).  Here's a list of OpenVista CIS Features and Functions.  Other modules such as Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, and ADT/Billing are text-based at this time.  There is some work in the general VistA community to make GUIs around admissions and registration, but there's nothing in the official OpenVista distribution yet.  These links may be of interest:Does OpenVista include a Billing application? and Re: enter a patient
